Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is the topic of the Letter of Nomination? The scholarship will be awarded based on the student's acts of kindness, good citizenship and humanitarianism. The Letter of Nomination should include an overview of the applicant's activities and the impact those activities have on their school and/or community. 2. Who should write the Letter of Nomination? The Letter of Nomination should be written and submitted by an adult in a supervisory position at school, work, church or extracurricular activity. 3. How long should the Letter of Nomination be? The Letter of Nomination should be no longer than 500 words. 4. What should be mailed in? The Loban Scholarship Information Form (available in PDF format on this website) and the Letter of Nomination are the only two required documents. These two documents should be sent together to: Loban Memorial, Inc., PO Box 8091, Brookings, South Dakota, 57006 and be postmarked on or before April 1, 2010. 5. How is the scholarship awarded? The Loban Memorial Inc. Board of Directors, advisors and committee members will review all applications. Winners will be selected based upon the Letter of Nomination and the applicant's activities, the impact of those activities on their school and/or community for the applicant's kindness, good citizenship and humanitarianism. 6. Can more than one person per school be nominated? Loban Memorial Inc. will accept any number of nominations per school. Anyone who meets the eligibility requirements is encouraged to apply. 7. What happens with the winning Letter of Nomination? All Letters of Nomination become property of Loban Memorial Inc. Winning Letters of Nomination will be published on this website along with a photo of the scholarship winner.
